This portfolio piece illustrates the evolution of the Web Presence for Fado Singer, Gonçalo Salgueiro. According to Wikipedia, “Fado is a music genre that can be traced to the 1820s in Lisbon, Portugal, but probably has much earlier origins. Fado historian and scholar Rui Vieira Nery states that "the only reliable information on the history of Fado was orally transmitted and goes back to the 1820s and 1830s at best”. As one of the emerging talents in Portugal on this richly revered topic, Gonçalo Salgueiro’s websites had a narrative of marrying the contemporary with the traditional. Throughout most of that decade, the websites reflected his continuously evolving image, but also the narrative he was building for his own career. I was responsible for the Research, Information Architecture, Creative Direction, Visual Design, Front-End Implementation of the web products throughout the years (2002 through 2009).
